We need your help with the creation of a food forest at Crow Shield Lodge. Divest Waterloo/Faith & the Common Good received a grant from the Region to work with Grand River Food Forestry to plant fedges (food hedges) around the Region. Our last fedge build is this Sunday October 3rd from 9 am until 2 pm (or sooner if we secure enough volunteers!)
We need volunteers to help plant the last fedge. It's a great opportunity to work together toward solidarity between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.
Once you confirm your interest and availability by emailing Laura Hamilton ([email protected]), you will receive directions and more details about the day.
This project is powerful not only because it naturalizes landscape, creates habitat and attracts native pollinators with low-maintenance, drought-tolerant native species but also because it builds community and by supporting ongoing engagement with the land that sustains us, it has the potential to change the relationships that citizens across the region have each other and with our ecosystem. These are all critical elements of resilience in the face of the climate crisis.
